HPES trains Washington University and St. Louis University medical students and bi-lingual community partners to act as Peer Facilitators to conduct free six-week long diabetes disease workshops to help people take charge of their lives by learning how to prevent and control diabetes. Because HPES recognizes that addressing the social determinants of health is important, we have partnered with the Missouri Association of Farmers Markets doing business in the University City Loop to provide class participants with vouchers for fruits and vegetables to encourage them to seek out healthy low-cost options.
HPES conducts six-week classes utilizing Zoom. Those who attend the 6 weeks of classes and pass an exam receive a certificate of graduation.
